biography

Ugne Dievaityte is a Lithuanian choreographer and dancer based in Madrid. Studied contemporary dance and dance improvisation with teachers from Europe and United states: Igor Podsiadly, Rasmus Ölme, Nina Wolhy, Angie Lau, Camille Hanson, Vytis Jankauskas, Birute Letukaite and others, and in dance therapy with Alexander Girshon. Has collaborated with diverse companies and artists from Lithuania, United Kingdom and Spain: Camille Hanson, Babirusa danza, Poliana Lima, Sharon Fridman, Aura, Vytis Jankauskas, Aira Naginaviciute, ARCO collective.

Her choreographic work Es como ver nubes (2012), co-created with Poliana Lima, has got three awards at Madrid choreographic contest (2012), has been awarded with the II prize at the contest DeUnaPieza (Madrid, 2013) and with the I prize at the festival Dansa Breu (Vila-real, 2014), and has been presented at various festivals: New Baltic Dance‘13 (Lithuania), Dansa Valencia‘13 (Spain), XVIII Festival Madrid en Danza en la Ventana a la Danza Madrileña (Spain), etc. Es como ver nubes has stimulated to continue working together in the creation of the new piece Flesh (2014) presented at Aerowaves Spring Forward‘15, New Baltic dance festival‘14 (Lithuania), Schwankhalle Bremen (Germany), Carme Teatre (Valencia, Spain) and awarded with the first prize at the festival Feedback‘14 (Madrid). Uninvited presence (2013), was presented at Korzo Theater (Netherlands) and at numerous festivals in Spain and Lithuania: New Baltic Dance‘13 (Lithuania), 10 Sentidos‘13 (Valencia, Spain), Dansa Breu‘13 (Vila-real,Spain), DeUnaPieza‘13 (Madrid, Spain), Feedback‘14 (Madrid, Spain), etc. At the end of 2014 in Arts Printing House in Lithuania Ugne has presented her new work Alkis in which she collaborates with a soprano singer Rosa Miranda. In Lithuania the works of Ugne are well-known since she has been discovered as a choreoghapher at the International New Baltic Dance festival, where her works have been presented several times.

As a dancer at the moment Ugne is taking part of the project Staying Alive: The Sacrifice of Giants of Camille Hanson and ¿M.R.U.M? of Babirusa Danza (Beatriz Palenzuela) in Madrid.
